Direct Fibre Processing (DFP)
The unique manufacturing methods used for helmet shells at SCHUBERTH keep the weight low, whilst retaining optimum stability. The innovative Direct Fibre Processing (DFP) technique has undergone further development at SCHUBERTH to achieve optimum results. DFP is a technology used for automated batch production of helmet shells made of glass fibre.
And this is how it works: One continuous glass fibre sheet is cut by a robot and pressed into a mould. This creates the preform for the helmet shell. A precisely defined quantity of resin is added to the preform and it is then compressed at high pressure to create an exceptionally high-strength helmet shell. The multi-part construction of the inner lining allows for outstanding force absorption, thereby enhancing safety. Energy arising through any impact is absorbed by the helmet, which is able to provide superlative head protection.
About the SCHUBERTH motorcycle helmets
Both our DFP systems were developed in-house and process 600 kg of glass fibre every day.
Laid out end-to-end this is equivalent to a length of 250 km.
