Helmet manufacturer Schuberth is co-operating with the world champions in the top category in motorsport. The company from Magdeburg, Germany, has been appointed as an official supplier of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, the most successful team in the previous Formula 1 season. With immediate effect, the team members will be wearing Schuberth helmets during the pit stops. The helmet is a new development, which will also become available for winter sports fans from autumn 2015.
Schuberth has already been working with MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS since 2011. World Championship runner-up Nico Rosberg, who is racing with the team, has even been trusting the innovative products of the helmet manufacturer for almost a decade already. This co-operation now steps up to a next level. Jan-Christian Becker, Schuberth’s managing director, says: “Being given the opportunity to support the Formula 1 World Champion team MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS makes us very proud. Working together with the team, we have developed a new and tailor-made helmet to the highest level of safety. Our commitment in Formula 1 enables us to keep improving our products and to set new benchmarks over and over again.”
Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Schuberth as an Official Team Supplier. The development of safety protection and procedures in Formula One is at the forefront of our business and to have the opportunity to partner with one of the world’s leading helmet manufacturers is both a great privilege and benefit for our team. We look forward to working ever closer with Schuberth to further develop their innovative products.”
Use of the head protection is by no means limited to Formula 1 alone. Schuberth will make the model available as a high-end helmet for winter sports purposes in the autumn of 2015 to expand its already vast product portfolio. “We are really delighted to present our first-ever helmet for winter sports use. Our entire experience is flowing into this product to ensure that we can provide safety at the highest level on the ski slopes as well,” Jan-Christian Becker explains. Alberto Dall’Oglio, Schuberth’s Head of Business Unit Car Racing, adds: “With our new model, we are using proven technologies. Our patented seamless inside and a carbon fibre outside layer result into a first-class and exclusive helmet to meet the highest requirements. This combination ensures the best possible level of safety and head protection in winter sports, too.”
Magdeburg-based helmet manufacturer Schuberth has been developing and producing head protection systems for over 90 years. With a vast range of innovative products, the company is among the world’s leading manufacturers of helmets for motorcycle, Formula 1 and motorsport use and of innovative head protection solution for professionals, fire brigade, police and military purposes.
