MOTORCYCLE HELMETS
FAQ
Q: How long does the warranty for my visor last?
A: The warranty period is 24 months from the date of purchase.
Q: Where can I complain about my visor if it is damaged?
A: Please complain to your dealer about your defective visor. When you do so, also submit a copy of the original bill.
Q:What happens to my warranty rights when I install my own intercom system?
A:Schuberth helmets are approved in accordance with the European standard ECE R22-05. When a helmet intercom system is installed, changes are made to the helmet. The helmet consequently loses its ECE approval, and you may lose your warranty rights vis-à-vis Schuberth GmbH. When the SRC-System is installed, the ECE approval is naturally retained.
Q: How can I send you my damaged helmet?
A: Please send us your helmet, together with a copy of the original bill, via your dealer so that it can be checked in the Service Centre in Magdeburg.
Please include an accompanying letter, together with a damage form (Download) and your telephone number. This will speed up the repair process.
Q: What level of absorption does the visor provide when the sun suddenly comes out?
A: Schuberth visors and sun visors provide absorption levels of 98.8%.
Q: What is the absorption level for UVA and UVB rays?
A: The sun visor filters out all the UVB rays and lets only 8% of the UVA rays through.
Q: To what level is the visor tinted?
A: The tint level is 84 %
Q: The wind noise is very loud when travelling. Can the helmet be responsible for this?
A: Wind noise and/or draughts can be caused, for example, by a fairing, the riding posture and/or a windscreen. Such elements as a rule reduce the pressure in the helmet, which causes air to be sucked in.
Q: Is it possible to leave the visor open in good weather?
A: Riding without the visor or with an open visor can result in injury to the eyes and face through stones, dust, insects and other flying objects.
The sun visor, when lowered, will provide protection from light impact from stones or insects but cannot protect from all hazards. We therefore recommend that you should always ride with your visor closed.
Q: What paints should I use when I want to paint and repair my helmet myself?
A: You can use car paints to paint and repair your helmet (available on the market). These may not be nitrocellulose-based, otherwise the helmet shell might be softened. We would like to point out that the ECE approval is invalidated if other caustic paints are used. In such cases Schuberth accepts no liability.
Water-based paints are recommended. We urgently advise you not to used solvent-based paints (which contain caustic substances)!
Q: What features should the helmet which I want to repaint have?
A: When you want to repaint a helmet, you should select a glossy helmet, then you will be confronted with fewer problems when sanding it down and you will find it easier to apply the paint evenly.
We would like to point out that the ECE approval is invalidated if other caustic paints are used. In such cases Schuberth accepts no liability.
Q: I would like to repaint my helmet. Please tell me what the RAL colours are.
A: As we do not work with RAL colours, you cannot repaint the helmet with RAL colours. Schuberth uses a specific colour code.
Q: Which parts of the suspension can I take out to clean?
A: You can take out the head and cheek pads to wash them. Make sure you use mild soapy water and that the water temperature does not exceed 30 °C. The parts of the suspension dry at room temperature. A small tip from us: The head band can be hung over the mirror to dry while you are travelling.
Q: What should I watch out for when I want to clean my helmet shell?
A: To clean the helmet shell, you can use water, soapy water or one of the commonly available motorcycle shampoos, cleaners, polishes and plastic cleaners, or cleaning fluid. The use of water and soapy water is usually sufficient.
Q: Does anything special need to be borne in mind when cleaning the visor?
A: The visor must be cleaned differently from the helmet shell. A soft cloth and mild soapy water are needed to remove dirt from the outer surface of the visor. We recommend a lint-free cloth to dry the visor.
Q: May I wash the inside surface of the visor?
A: Please avoid using any cleaning agents. We recommend a slightly moistened cloth (microfibre cloth).
Q: Do these special instructions also apply for the sun visor?
A: Yes. Our cleaning recommendations also apply for the sun visor. You must also ensure that the anti-fog coating is not damaged by vigorous rubbing.
