Arie originally began his career in scooter racing and was only introduced to "real" road racing by a racing rider he was friendly with.
After a successful start in the Superbike League he dominated the Dutch championship in 2006, 2007 and 2011. This year he will ride for the Alpha Technik Van Zon team in the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM).
