It was not long before we were able to win over record-breaking world champion Michael Schumacher with our philosophy and the quality of our carbon helmet. This was the beginning of a working partnership that has lasted 10 years and which, to this day, has generated countless ideas for the further development and optimisation of our helmets. We are linked by a common belief that something which is merely good is never enough and we should always strive to find the very best possible solutions.
In 2006 Michael Schumacher ended his first career as a Formula 1 driver and moved on to become an aspiring motorcycle racer on a 200 hp superbike. This was reason and incentive enough for our engineers to produce the Schuberth Race helmet within the space of a few months, a carbon motorcycle helmet weighing only 900 grams based on the F1 helmet. There was huge interest among the other drivers when Schumacher started racing wearing this one-off handmade helmet, and this gave Schuberth an idea: "Why not use the Schuberth Race helmet as the basis for our first super helmet for motorcycle sport riders and racers?" After countless hours in the wind tunnel and numerous test rides on the track we have now reached our goal: the new SR1 - the perfect synthesis of form and function!
