Overview - New Features

The SRC-System™ 3.0 software update is an important enrichment, bringing with it innovative new features, improved customization options and more. Important new features include:

  • Click-to-Link™
  • Volume Per Mode
  • Standalone A2DP

What’s new in the SRC-System™ v3.0

Click-To-Link™
The Click-To-Link™ feature is a unique solution, developed by Cardo and available only to communication systems that are compatible with Cardo’s line of motorcycle communication systems. Click-To-Link™ allows bikers to initiate spontaneous intercom calls to random SRC-System™ users who are within range, without the need to perform advance pairing. Users can always activate or deactivate this feature and also reject incoming requests for such random connections.

Volume Per Mode
The Volume Per Mode feature causes the SRC-System™ to memorize the most recently stored volume setting for each audio source (A2DP stereo, mobile phone, GPS, FM radio), so that whenever a user switches between modes, the SRC-System™ will automatically transmit sound at the previously set volume level.

Stand Alone A2DP
A dedicated audio channel was added to accommodate A2DP-enabled music devices (such as the iPod Touch 2G/3G/4G). This provides the SRC-System™ with parallel connectivity to an MP3 device and a mobile phone, so that users can seamlessly switch from one to the other.

New convenient and simple Voice Configuration Menu

The new Voice Configuration Menu lets users easily change SRC-System™ settings and customize their unit without the need for a computer. User can now configure the following settings via the Menu:

  • Language
  • Enable/Disable Click to Link
  • Enable/Disable VOX
  • Enable/Disable RDS
  • Enable/Disable Spoken Status Announcements

Bug Fixes

  • Enhanced performance with TomTom Rider/Urban Rider GPS: GPS instruction audio connection is instantaneous
  • Solved bug in Intercom mode that sometimes caused the first syllable of speech not to be heard after a period of silence
  • Solved occasional distortion noise on an Intercom call that remained open for an extended period of time (~1hr+)
  • Secured seamless transition to A2DP playback after an Intercom call when using an iPhone™

iPhone is a trademark of Apple Inc.

Installation

Q: I have purchased the SRC-SystemTM and now want to connect it to my intercom system which is not an SRC-SystemTM - what should I watch out for?
A: Unfortunately we cannot provide you with any information on installing non-Schuberth systems.

Q: Is the SRC-SystemTM supplied already pre-installed in the helmet?
A: No. Schuberth helmets are not equipped with the SRC-SystemTM ex works. The SRC-SystemTM is offered only as an optional accessory by specialised dealers.

Q: Who installs the SRC-SystemTM in the helmet?
A: The SRC-SystemTM is installed according to the "plug and play principle" and can be installed in a very short time by any Schuberth customer. Please follow the installation instructions provided for this purpose in the manual.

Q: With which helmets is the SRC-SystemTM compatible?
A: The SRC-SystemTM is currently compatible with the Schuberth flip-up helmets  C3, C2 and Concept.

Q: The SRC-SystemTM does not fit into my Schuberth C3 helmet.
A: The SRC-SystemTM is offered in two sizes for the C3 in accordance with the two helmet shells with the size ranges 50 – 59 and 60 – 65. Check whether the SRC-SystemTM matches the size of your helmet.

Q: Will the size of my helmet change when the SRC-SystemTM is installed?
A: No, the SRC-SystemTM has been designed to ensure maximum comfort. However, bear in mind that the acoustic collar contains a great deal of electronic components and is therefore rather fuller than the conventional acoustic collar. As a result you may feel a difference when you put on or remove your helmet.

Tip: If you routinely enlarge the helmet opening by forcing the straps apart when you put on or remove your helmet, the process will gradually feel smoother. In the course of time the stiffness of the acoustic collar will also be reduced.

Q: Can the SRC-System™ for the helmet models Concept / C2 be converted for the C3?
A: No. The SRC-System™ cannot be converted to other helmet models. Before purchasing, find out which version of the SRC-System™ is suitable for your helmet.

Q: Is the SRC-System™ compatible with BMW motorcycle helmets?
A: No. The SRC-System™ is only compatible with the helmet models C3 and C2 / Concept.

Q: When will the SRC-System be available for the helmet models S1 / S1Pro and J1?
A: No SRC-System™ for the helmet models S1 / S1Pro and J1 is currently planned.

General functions

Q: Why is it not possible to switch on the SRC-System™?
A: Ensure that your SRC-System's™ battery is charged. Charge the SRC-System™ for at least four hours using the power cable supplied before you place it in service for the first time.

Q: How long is the battery's operating time / stand-by time?
A: At full load and under normal environmental conditions (average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, average speed and volume) the SRC-System™ can operate for up to ten hours and can remain on stand-by for up to six days.
Full load here means that during this period Bluetooth® signals can be constantly transferred to and from the SRC-System™ and can be replayed by the latter. If no constant Bluetooth® transmission takes place, e.g. if no music is played, the battery's operating time can be extended.

Q: Is there an optical display to show the battery's charge condition?
A: Yes. Hold down the "Lautstärketaste AUF" (Volume UP) button for at least three seconds.

  • Blue light = Battery is full
  • Blue/red light = Battery is half full
  • Red light = Battery is almost empty

Q: Can I replace the battery?
A: No. You cannot replace the battery yourself. Please contact your dealer.

Caution: Never open the SRC-System™ yourself, but always hand your SRC-System™ over to a specialised dealer who is authorised to do so. If you open the system yourself and/or damage the seal, the guarantee will become invalid.

Q: May I open the zip on the SRC-System™?
A: No. You may not open the zip yourself, and it is sealed.

Caution: Never open the SRC-System™ yourself, but always hand your SRC-System™ over to a specialised dealer who is authorised to do so. If you open the system yourself and/or damage the seal, the guarantee will become invalid.

Q: What is Bluetooth®?
A: Bluetooth® is a short range radio system which was originally designed for computer peripherals and mobile devices to replace cables. The Bluetooth® radio system uses the 2.4 GHz frequency band which may be used without a licence and without registration almost everywhere in the world.

Q: When connected to Bluetooth® devices, a password is requested for the SRC-System™. What is the password?
A: The Bluetooth® password for the SRC-System is: 0000

Q: Are software and firmware updates offered for the SRC-System™?
A: Yes. An update option is provided. The software required is made available on the Schuberth website. To use this option, please register your new SRC-System™ at www.schuberth.de/src-system

Q: Why should I register my SRC-System™ at www.schuberth.de/src-system?
A: As soon as you have registered at www.schuberth.de/src-system, Schuberth GmbH will inform you of any new firmware updates. This enables you to keep your SRC-System™ constantly up to date.

Q: How does the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) work?
A: The AGC is based on the internal helmet noise measured by the SRC-System™. Since the internal noise increases with the speed, the volume is indirectly controlled by the speed.

Q: What devices can be connected to the SRC-System™?
A: Thanks to the MDC technology the SRC-System™ offers the following parallel connection options: Intercom with up to three SRC-Systems™, each with one of the following Bluetooth® devices:

  • Mobile phone (either directly or via a GPS navigation device)
  • GPS navigation device
  • A2DP-capable MP3 Player or adapter
  • Bluetooth® adapter

Q: Which devices are given priority when priorities are assigned?
A: Priorities are assigned as follows:

  1. Mobile phone or GPS navigation device
  2. Intercom
  3. A2DP audio source
  4. VHF radio (internal)
  5. AUX jack (for wired devices such as the MP3 Player)

Q: Can the SRC-System™ also be used in the rain?
A: Yes, the SRC-System™ can also be used in the rain. It is protected against water and dust.

Q: Is the SRC-System™ protected against water and dust?
A: Yes. You can also use your SRC-System™ without hesitation even when it is raining hard.

Q: Where can the SRC-System™ be tested and bought?
A: Please contact the nearest Schuberth dealer in your vicinity. Go to dealer search.

Q: Is the SRC-System™ compatible with the communication system from Cardo?
A: Yes. The SRC-System™ is compatible with the Cardo Scala Rider systems.

Q: My loudspeakers produce different volumes. How can I remedy this?
A: Please first check the position of the loudspeakers. To do this, if necessary remove the loudspeakers from the helmet and test them outside the helmet. If the problem persists, please reset the system.

Q: What is the battery loading time for the SRC-Systems™?
A: The battery loading time is 3 hours.

Intercom

Q: What is the maximum range between two SRC-SystemsTM?
A: The maximum range between two SRC-SystemsTM depends on the nature of the road and terrain, and also on the traffic conditions. Under ideal conditions it is 300 metres.

Q: Do SRC-Systems™ which have been connected need to be reconnected to each other after the maximum range has been exceeded?
A: No. SRC-Systems™ which have been connected to each other are automatically linked to each other again as soon as the range makes this technically feasible.

Q: During an active intercom connection, can everyone receive the instructions of the navigation system and hear music?
A: No. Only the master can receive instructions and music data.

Mobile telephony

Q: What mobile phones can I attach to the SRC-System?
A: Basically almost all the current Bluetooth® mobile phones which have Bluetooth® Version 1.1 can be connected to the SRC-System™.

Caution: Not all mobile phone manufacturers keep consistently to the Bluetooth® standards. Consequently it cannot be guaranteed that the SRC-System™ will be compatible with every Bluetooth® mobile phone which is available on the market.

Mobile phones which do not have Bluetooth® capability are not supported by the SRC-System™.

Q: When I am linked to other bikers in intercom mode, can my telephone calls be overheard?
A: No, that is not possible. During the telephone call the intercom connection to other bikers is interrupted and the SRC-System™ is connected to the mobile phone. As soon as the telephone call is finished, the connection to the other connected SRC-Systems™ is automatically set up again.

Caution: When you open an intercom connection during the telephone call using channel button "A" or "B", a three party service is established.

Q: When I connect up to my Bluetooth® mobile phone, a password for the SRC-System is requested. What is the password?
A: The Bluetooth® password for the SRC-System is 0000

Q: Is the iPhone compatible with the SRC-System™?
A: Yes. Please take note of the current iPhone software updates.

GPS navigation

Q: What GPS navigation devices can I connect to the SRC-System?
A: Basically you can connect all GPS navigation devices which support Bluetooth® 1.1 (e.g. Garmin Zumo 550, Zumo 660, TomTom Rider 2 and all BMW navigation devices).

Q: Is the SRC-System™ compatible with the Garmin Zumo 660?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I connect a navigation device and a radio at the same time?
A: No, only one Bluetooth® terminal can be connected at a time.

Q: With which navigation devices and Bluetooth® systems is the SRC-System™ compatible?

Q: The wizard for searching for new hardware and the dialog window for the Windows Logo Test appear simultaneously while I install the software.
Ignore the hardware wizard and click on "Continue Anyway" in the hardware installation window. The hardware wizard then terminates automatically.

Q: I use Windows® Vista or Windows® 7 and receive the information: "This option is only available for users with administrator's privileges".

Administrator privileges are required to install the drivers for Windows® Vista and Windows® 7. Close the application and right-click on the "SRCSsetup" icon.

Choose the "Run as administrator" option and confirm by clicking on "Allow".

Q: I followed the instructions in the dialog box, but nothing happens.
First of all disconnect the USB link between the SRCS headset and your PC. Then set it up again. Follow the instructions above. Check the connection between your PC's USB port and the SRC-System headset. If you can find nothing wrong on your PC, we recommend you perform the update on another PC.

Q: I receive the message that I should update the drivers.
Click on "Continue Anyway" and follow the instructions.

Q: The "SRCS Upgrades" software no longer works.

Close all windows of the "SRCS Upgrades" software and restart the program.

Q: Why does it take so long to update my installed software?

The speed of the update procedure is largely dependent on the speed of your internet connection, but as a rule this procedure takes no more than five minutes.

Q: While the update is being transferred to the SRC-System one of the "general fault" messages appears and I can no longer switch on the SRC-System.

This error can be caused by a faulty driver or USB port. When this error occurs the update is not executed in full and the previous software is "deleted". You can re-establish the functional integrity of the SRC-System by simply pressing "Reinstate last version". If a "general fault" is once again displayed, we recommend you perform the update on another PC.

Q: Before the update is transferred to the SRC-System the message "This SRC-system cannot be re-programmed" appears and the SRC-System software 1.50 is displayed.

There can be several reasons for this version being displayed, e.g. a faulty driver or USB port. We recommend you perform the update on another PC.

Q: How do I perform a master reset?

  1. Switch the SRC-System on.
  2. Hold the "mobile phone button" down for six seconds until the LEDs flash rapidly.
  3. Hold the "+ key" down for three seconds
  4. The SRC-System will be reset and switch off automatically.

Q: The update stops at 99%. What should I do?
The software checks the transferred data for c. 100 seconds. Please wait until the countdown has been completed and follow the instructions issued by the program.

Q: The SRC-System simply switches itself off while the radio is operating.
Please update your SRC-System to software version 3.0. This will solve the problem.
