Thank you, Michael!

308 Grand Prix, 91 victories, 7 world championship titles – Michael Schumacher has immortalised himself in Formula 1 history with a large number of records. Since 2001 we have accompanied Michael Schumacher in his unparalleled career in our role as helmet manufacturer.

We were right there from 2001 to play our part in 162 Grand Prix, 46 victories and 4 world championship titles. Behind the bare figures lie countless exciting and emotional moments and a strong team of Schuberth employees who were able to play their part in these successes through their great commitment and diligence.

250,000 miles a year

Above all, of course, our service engineer Sven Krieter, who is present at every race to prepare the helmet for Michael. Regardless of what the weather is like  – hot or cold, high humidity or torrential rain –, Sven makes sure that Michael always has a perfect view of the situation. Sven travelled around a quarter million miles a year to always be where Michael needed him. In the Magdeburg factory Sven heads a team of four engineers who construct the helmets and customise the suspension.

A team of experienced engineers who always integrate the latest scientific and technical findings and the results of the wind tunnel tests into the development of the helmets ensures that the helmets also reflect the latest state-of-the-art in terms of safety and comfort. And above all the wishes and requests of Michael Schumacher himself were always taken into account.

"Development engineer" M. Schumacher

Marcel Lejeune, Managing Director of Schuberth GmbH, looks back with gratitude on the successful cooperation: "Michael Schumacher, with his enormous technical understanding and his outstanding analytical skills, has contributed to the constant enhancement of our Formula 1 helmets. Our engineers had a few hard nuts to crack, but without him many innovations could not have been implemented so quickly. We will always be very grateful to him for his untiring meticulousness."

Joint development of the helmet since 2001 set safety benchmarks in Formula 1. Important achievements in the fields of safety, aerodynamics and comfort are the outcome of Michael's ideas. Not least of all the double carbon protection in the particularly endangered forehead section which was suggested by Michael resulted in one of the safest helmets of all. This safety feature played a major role in minimising the consequences of an accident suffered by his former team-mate and Schuberth driver Felipe Massa at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2009 when he was struck by a steel spring.
